A LEAP Story: Ms. Salazar and Daisy
Thanks to the generosity of donors, seniors and their pets are receiving the veterinary care they need to stay healthy, comfortable, and together.
Recently, Ms. Salazar, a Meals on Wheels client, received support through the LEAP program for her dog, Daisy. Due to dexterity challenges, Ms. Salazar is unable to trim Daisy’s toenails on her own, and over time they had become so long that walking was uncomfortable for Daisy.
Through LEAP, Daisy was able to receive her annual wellness care, including a full veterinary exam, vaccines, and a year’s supply of flea and heartworm preventatives. During the visit, Daisy also received a much-needed nail trim, immediately improving her comfort and mobility.
Ms. Salazar was incredibly appreciative and relieved to know Daisy’s needs were addressed. With her nails trimmed and preventive care in place for the year, Daisy can move more comfortably and continue to be a steady source of companionship and joy.
For Ms. Salazar, Daisy is more than a pet. She is a loyal companion who brings comfort, routine, and emotional support each day. Thanks to donors who support the LEAP program, seniors like Ms. Salazar can care for their pets even when physical limitations make it difficult.
Every donation to LEAP helps keep seniors and their beloved pets healthy, comfortable, and together, strengthening the bond that means so much to both.
