Calling All Heroes!

Fearless Fern

Everyday, TVMF is called on to help pets in need through the TVMF PALS program and our Rusk Veterinary Assistance Grants, but we can’t do it without your help. Below are two stories of pets that TVMF has helped this spring.  Please consider sponsoring a pet so that we can continue to help pets like Fern and Jenny stay happy and healthy!

Katie F. first saw Fern on a Facebook post after she had been picked up and taken to Austin Animal Center (AAC). Katie “just went to see” Fern at AAC, and of course ended up adopting her! Katie took Fern in for her initial wellness exam and began treating her for Demodex. But just one day later, they were back at the vet clinic. Fern had jumped out of Katie’s arms and broken her leg! Katie was unable to afford the surgery Fern needed, so her veterinarian at North Austin Animal Hospital turned to TVMF for help with a Rusk Veterinary Assistance Grant. TVMF was able to provide Katie with the help she needed, and Fern is getting back to her playful, energetic self.

Emergency Surgery for Jenny

Jenny is a new pet to the TVMF PALS program. When her owner contacted our program partner, Heather at Meals on Wheels Central Texas, he told her that Jenny was having trouble urinating and he didn’t know what to do.  Luckily, we were able to get her a vet appointment right away.  Jenny was seen at VCA Tanglewood Animal Hospital, where they performed an emergency cystotomy to remove two giant struvite stones from Jenny’s bladder! Jenny is feeling a lot more comfortable now and we are happy to say that this little girl is back home where she belongs.
