Stethoscopes

Each year, we welcome 280 incoming veterinary students in Texas by providing them with a high-quality stethoscope to use in school and into their professional career. This is made possible by fellow veterinarians and generous individuals who see the value of paying-it-forward for the next generation.

When I was given my stethoscope, that was the first time I truly felt that I was becoming a member of the profession. Seeing how invested Texas veterinarians are to promote the profession and invest in student success has driven me to ensure they’re going to get a great return on that investment. —Colton Buttgen, Texas Tech School of Veterinary Medicine, Class of 2025

TVMF Research Scholars

Participating in a summer research program is a life-changing experience for up-and-coming veterinarians. Research training provides intensive, hands-on, practical training in veterinary research. Following their faculty-supervised research project, students present their findings at major meetings and events across the state.

Research became a passion of mine, and as a researcher, I am able to work with a variety of species, assist principal investigators with study design and incorporate welfare and behavior into husbandry. I am looking forward to working with a variety of researchers and animal models and assisting with animal science-related projects. —Xandra Meneses, 2021 TVMF Research Scholar, Class of 2025
