For Adelita K., a homebound Meals on Wheels client and a recipient of the LEAP program, her pets are more than companions—they are her family, her comfort, and her joy, especially during life’s most challenging moments. Recently, her love for her animals and her determination to care for them were put to the test in ways she never imagined.

Her two beloved dogs, Peter and Crystal Marie, underwent life-changing dental procedures made possible through the LEAP program. Before the treatments, both dogs struggled to eat comfortably, favoring one side of their mouths. Their appetites were diminished, and their bad breath was a constant issue. Now, thanks to their improved dental health, Peter and Crystal Marie eat happily, eagerly ask for treats, and bring Adelita immense relief and joy.

Adelita knows she wouldn’t have been able to provide these critical procedures without the support of the LEAP program. The care her pets received not only transformed their health but also strengthened the deep bond she shares with them.

Today, Adelita can’t imagine life without her pets. They are her constant companions, her source of comfort during tough times, and the reason her days are filled with joy and activity. Her pets keep her busy and bring her peace, and she knows that without them, life would feel lonely and far more stressful.

Her story is a testament to the profound connection between humans and animals and the importance of having a support system like LEAP during life’s most difficult moments.
