In Memory Of: Stewart

I adopted Stewart when he was 1-2 years old while living in Houston. I cared for him for 14 years, and he was the best fur companion I could’ve ever asked for.

When he was younger, he had spunk, but was also indifferent about many things, and my friend used to describe him as “disapproving Stew.” As he got older, he mellowed out and became much friendlier to dogs, but he was always a people lover. He wasn’t cuddly and didn’t lick others unless he really liked you.

Stewart loved doorways but hated grates, escalators, and cellar doors in the middle of sidewalks. He loved a line of bushes, chasing squirrels, kitchen floors, foraging for treats in boxes, and laying on a pile of clothes, dirty or clean. He loved freeze-dried chicken, laying near his favorite human, and catching accidentally-dropped food. He knew when I was sad and needed attention or angry and needed space. He was my best friend and will forever be a part of me.
